ASUS Eee Box EB1501-B0167 Nettop PC - Black Description:

Right out of the box, the EeeBox PC EB1501 sets out to challenge the traditional “watching of DVDs on an LCD TV” home entertainment concept. With HDMI-output, a slot-load optical disc drive (ODD) and the ability to play content from your own media library in Full HD, the EB1501 is set to give your current home entertainment system a run for its money. The EeeBox PC EB1501 runs on the Intel Atom N330 Dual Core processor and NVIDIA ION graphics platform and features a slot-load optical disc drive (ODD) to let you enjoy multimedia content on your LCD TV in Full HD 1080p. The EB1501’s Total Media Center supports multiple media and codec file formats while SimHD sharpens video and scales up your DVD/SD movies from 720×576p to HD quality at 1280×720p or higher. Besides providing excellent entertainment the EB1501 has an elegant, space saving “standing diamond” form factor giving it the distinction of being one of the world’s smallest PCs to have a slot-in ODD; mount it on the back of an LCD monitor to save even more space and create an all-in-one PC at the same time. Big things come in small packages and the EB1501 is no exception—with an array of I/O ports ensuring full connectivity. HDMI and S/PDIF output ports ensure a Full HD 1080p home entertainment experience with 5.1 channel surround sound; while the built-in 802.11n WLAN and Ethernet LAN port keeps you connected to your home network. Additional I/O ports include: D-sub, eSATA, card reader, headphone and mic jacks, and 6 USB ports. The EB1501 comes with a 1 year parts and labor warranty.

Customer Reviews:

Awesome HTPC5
Now that I’ve had the EB1501 integrated into my home theater for a few weeks, I thought I would update my review of it.

I have this connected via HDMI to receiver, surround sound and a 52″ HDTV. Due to the limitations of my setup (not the EB1501), I do not use HDMI for sound, so I will not say anything about the box’s ability to carry both signals properly. If you use S/PDIF for audio, you are going to appreciate the included adapter (works great). I was going to use Boxee or XBMC, but I don’t like the hassle of setting up and integrating Tv tuners into those, so I am using Windows 7’s Media Center.

The EB1501 is EVERYTHING I have been looking for in a HTPC. It runs (very) cool and (very) quiet. It’s barely noticeable yet attractive enough to not have to hide - which makes it easier to get to the DVD drive, power, ports, etc… The computer is stable and a workhorse for this task.

With the Atom processor, I wouldn’t recommend trying to do too much gaming or heavy multitasking. As a component in a home theater, this thing runs circles around the almost useless Media Center Extender I was using before.

Pretty quiet, uses little power, works well4
The EB1501 is quiet, though a bit louder than I expected. If it is sitting right next to me on the desk in a quiet room, the fan sound is a little bit annoying. With it mounted under the desk, even at night in a very quiet room I can hardly hear it.

I hooked it up to a Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor to measure its power consumption. When it’s not busy, it only uses 19 watts of power. I didn’t try too hard to tax it, but doing things like launching applications and watching videos brought the power consumption up to 25 watts. I’m very impressed. If I left it on 24 hours a day, at 19 watts that translates to about $20 in electricity for an entire year. (For comparison, my regular PC uses about 5 times as much electricity.)

Some things I’ve done on the EB1501 with no problem:
* Watched YouTube and Netflix videos
* Had sound going through the HDMI cable and through a USB audio interface (a Griffin iMic)
* Had a VGA monitor at 1280×1024 and an HDTV at 1080p hooked up separately and also simultaneously with an “extended desktop”
* Burned a DVD

I’m very happy with the EB1501.

Good machine, a little pricey, but doing work.4
Bought this machine, upgraded RAM to 4GB. So far so good. Had a few hicups w/WPA2 security & my router, but for the most part, the machine does a good job. I can watch HD content w/no sputters. And the box fits nicely tucked behind a wall mounted TV.

If it had a Blue Ray Drive, the price would be more solidly justified.

Easy to use.

The Ample, the Terrible and the Repugnant (1966)

    Hang ‘Em High (1968)

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Clint Eastwood Star Collection! Click Here

The first three in the list are Eastwood’s Sergio Leone Trilogy and approach in two disc editions if you are up for something higher priced in The Sergio Leone Anthology (A Fistful Of Dollars / For A Few Dollars More / The Top-notch, The Abominable And The Repugnant / Duck, You Sucker), and in single disc editions in The Man with No Name Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, The Worthy, the Dreadful, and the Ghastly) .

Hang ‘Em High is the film Eastwood did after the Sergio Leone films made him well-known. He is a man who is hung for a theft he did not commit and who is rescued from death by a passing sheriff. Most of the remainder of the film is Eastwood’s strong restful type tracking down the men who did him spoiled. It is a advantageous film, but not as strong as the Sergio Leone Trilogy, so you may or may not believe this status is a suited bargain.

Since all of these films have been released before, that is probably the reason for the shameful mark and for the fact that the films are on four discs instead of fair two. This is the all too familiar boxset created by a repackaging of stock in these slim economic times that have become even slimmer for classic film releases.

Michael Curtiz’ “Angels with Dirty Faces” is one of those movies (like his “Casablanca” and “Mildred Pierce”) in which the planets and stars were perfectly aligned. James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Pat O’Brien, Ann Sheridan, and the Stupid Ruin Kids are completely believeable. In fact, even the actors who played the young Cagney and O’Brien were just on.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Angels With Dirty Faces! Click Here

But it is Curtiz’ direction that runs the explain. Curtiz moves seamlessly from the crowded streets, to the claustrophobic tenements, to the glitzy gambling joints. And his mastery of shadow and light cannot be overstated, as historian Dana Polan points out in his insightful commentary.

All these elements combine to build a ample movie, and not objective a vast gangster movie. The complex relationships between Rocky Sullivan, the kids, and Fadda Jerry (O’Brien) –and the astonishing ending to the film–make it as poignant and widely-appealing as any other movie of its time or any other time.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Angels With Dirty Faces! Click Here

It’s no coincidence that both “Angels” and “Casablanca” were directed by Michael Curtiz, since there’s very miniature unpleasant with either represent. Cagney is the quintessential gangster with a heart of gold, and his real-life friend Pat O’Brien is equally strong as Father Connolly. Beautifully realized in every respect– one of the all-time champs.

    Customer Reviews:

Great LCD TV at a fraction of the price5
I’ve been in the market for a 55″ LCD for over a year. I needed to replace a 55″ rear projection TV that was great for it’s time, but doesn’t have the picture quality of a good LCD. I didn’t want to spend a fortune and I’ve been watching as large LCD’s have come down in price.

I purchased this at Costco and I thought the price was a typo. The picture quality of this TV is first rate, and the sound while not great, is better than most. It’s fine for regular viewing, but I certainly use my sound system for movies. 1080i from Dish is spectacular, and 1080p from Xbox is unbelievable. 240Hz makes a big difference in the motion blur of fast scenes - there is virtually none. I’m finally going to pull the trigger on Blue-ray now because this thing is so good.

I love it, my wife loves it, and everyone that sees it is amazed. In my mind it is by far the best value on a top-shelf LCD.

    Great TV!5
I bought this TV from Costco and all I can say is that I am so happy I did. You cant find a 55″ 1080/240 for $1199 anywhere. I have had it for about 4 weeks now and the picture is incredible. My girl and my friends who have come over to watch movies or the basketball games all compliment me on it. I feel like I stole this TV. The sound isn’t the best but I have yet to hear great sound out of any LCD/Plasma TV. Thankfully I have a really good surround sound system.

Pedestal ships in a separate box.3
Beware - the pedestal ships in a separate box. Amazon has shipped me the item 2 times in the hope that the pedestal would arrive with the TV, but to no avail. I can not stand the tv upright. I don’t know what to do right now. Maybe I’ll send the whole thing back. Man, this is frustrating.

I first saw this version of “Dracula” on PBS help in the 70’s (shortly after having read the current) and belief it a wondererful (albeit a cramped stiff) and very faithful film adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic gothic unusual. Of course there have been hundreds of films featuring Count Dracula down through the ages but very few of them adhered closely to the orignal source material. In fact most of them impartial borrowed a few key characters and maybe a region thread or two and then fair created their acquire anecdote. Thankfully the BBC decided to rectify matters by filming their possess adaptation for television and this is the first film that I am aware of that really does stop lawful to the new. In fact this was the first film to expose many of the eminent scenes from the unique that previous films had ignored. Namely the scenes of Dracula crawling down the castle walls and a very controversial (at the time) scene where the Count offers a baby to his three vampire brides.

Now support in mind this is 70’s era BBC televsision. While the acting is quite reliable some of the other production values are not going to be of the same quality that many of today’s viewing audiences are traditional to. For example many of the exterior scenes are filmed outdoors while the interior scenes are filmed on sets. Consequently there is going to be some sequences with a positive stagey quality to them. Some of the special effects shots are going to be…well, lets honest say not all that special. Now having said all that I quiet can disclose you that there are more chills to be had from this version than the BBC’s most unusual and very disapointing adaptation of “Dracula”. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say that this version is even better than Coppola’s “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”. I never really cared for Coppola’s version anyway but I will give it high marks for production values. One of the sizable mistakes with Coppola’s film was the changing of Dracula’s character from Stoker’s plan of irascible vampire to that of a laughable, romantic love-struck vampire. Louis Jourdan (Gigi, Octopussy) does a ravishing job as the Count despite the fact that he is one of the few things in the film that doesn’t quite mesh with Stoker’s modern notion. He does however grunt very well that odd dichotomy of vampires. Namely the sensual yet scandalous qualities we’ve approach to demand from many other cover Dracula’s.

To sum up: this film may be cheap in the production values department but if you are looking for a version that is faithful to Stoker’s unique account, character and concepts then you are on the correct track with this offering from 70’s era BBC. There’s lots of atmosphere and plenty of superior chills to be had from this version despite the shortcomings it may have.

At last, although it’s been a while since I last saw this. I had never forgotten it,

Buy,Download, Or Stream Count Dracula! Click Here

especially the scene where Harker looks out of his castle window and see’s Dracula clinging to the walls.

Louis Jourdan breathes current life into the titular character.

(With fair the moral air of a European nobleman, polite, curteous but with an arrogant paddle) .

This was the first time I’d seen the scrumptious Judy Bowker on TV since Unlit Beauty.

The ever wonderful Frank Finlay plays a astounding Van Helsing.

(His 1971 Casanova is worth a contemplate too.)

And Jack Shepherd really excels as Renfield.

If you have never read the modern, then this is the most correct version I have ever seen.

Bram Stokers characters and prose are faithfully transferred to the diminutive hide.

Production values are typically BBC slow 70’s videotape, but it’s the record and acting quality I retract for,

and not a slightly dodgy TV stage location!

I really enjoyed the theatrical crop, and now, pick up ready for all the nice storylines that were deleted. What you’ll peek on the director’s prick (referenced from AICN) SPOILERS AHEAD!!:

    - did you realize that the priest at the beginning is actually the half-brother of Balian (Orlando Bloom)? Their relationship is distinguished more complicated and dreadful in this version, and we learn that Balian is in jail following his wife’s death, thanks to his brother’s claim that he is possessed by the devil.

    - We also learn that Balian was an engineer before he became a blacksmith, that he built war machines when he was fraction of an army, and he’s released from prison because the local lord needs Balian’s abet. So worthy more work is place into the establishment of Balian’s character that by the time we actually meet him in the film now, we have a sense of who he is.

    - The lord that Balian works for? Turns out, he’s Neeson’s brother, and when Godfrey shows up in the village, he’s coming home. There’s an entire scene that takes status at the castle where it’s obvious that his absence made it possible for his brother to purchase over, something that his brother doesn’t want to gaze change. Since Godfrey has no heir, if he dies, then his recent lands also become the property of the brother, something that makes more sense of the battle scenes appealing Neeson and his group of soldiers.

    - When Neeson goes to talk to Balian the first time, he stops at the door to the smith’s shop, looking out at a particular position. He flashes benefit to when he was younger, to when he was with Balian’s mother, and that one moment says all we need to know about the particular paradise that Godfrey seeks and that he knows he’ll never regain again. It explains so grand about why he would want to near and execute amends and arrive out to Balian. He’s looking for absolution, and he figures he can earn it this design, and the film shows us instead of impartial telling us.

    - Baldwin IV is shown refusing the last sacrament from Patriarch Heraclius.

    - Another major change is the re-insertion of the character of Baldwin V (who was shown in some of the trailers), here depicted as the son of Sibylla by Guy. He is portrayed as suffering from leprosy, like his uncle. His death is depicted as an act of euthanasia by his mother, using poison.

    - Balian also fights a climactic duel with Guy.

    - Additionally, Eva Green’s role as the Queen has been expanded, and she’s not there objective for Orland Bloom’s sexual interest.

    - More insight into absolution, forgiveness, and politics in this time period.

(Please note: This is for the 4 disc director’s cut–for some reason this is combined with ALL versions of the movie including the Blu-ray. The Blu-ray features ONLY the first two discs of this status on one Blu-ray disc. None of the discs with extras are included as portion of the package) .

Sometimes longer is better particularly when you have a complex legend. The theatrical version of “Kingdom of Heaven” was flawed from the beginning with famous epic gaps that undermine the character development and the still momentum of the yarn. That’s because Fox had Scott gash the film by nearly an hour deleted necessary and critical character development at the expense of trying to fit in more showings per theater. The result was a sprawling ambitious project that had the legend scope of “Lawrence of Arabia” without the account strength. Thank God for DVD. “Kingdom of Heaven: The Director’s Chop” restores the material demonstrating that the fresh 3 hour gash was a gleaming film that played theatrical slack last year after the film had bombed at the box office. The reason the film bombed was the idiotic decision to chop the film and do it shorter reducing the film’s impact. While it might not have made a tremendous amount of money it would have done well at the box office as a prestige film AND would have deservedly been nominated for Oscars. Mighty of the background epic is fleshed out and the relationships between the various characters are more clearly defined. “Kingdom of Heaven” is a aesthetic record film that recalls the power of David Lean’s epics and allows Scott’s historical drama to breath. If you’ve seen the theatrical chop you owe it to yourself to perceive this major film from a major talent.

The film is presented like the “Lord of the Rings” deluxe sets with the film spread over two discs. Featuring a fine anamorphic transfer this version of the film actually looks reliable with less issues with digital artifacts when compared to the previous edition of the film. The 5.1 audio presentation sounds astounding with both a 5.1 and 5.1DTS track that makes exceptional employ of the format. You’ll feel like you’ve keep plopped down into the middle of the battle sequences in the action sequences and there’s incredible ambient sound effects sprinkled throughout the film even during sequences that are dialogue driven.

Special features are terrific in this site. We originate off with an introduction by Scott discussing the “Director’s Nick” compared to the theatrical version of the film. Featuring Scott, writer William Monahan and actor Orlando Bloom the first commentary track (it was recorded separately and pieced together) becomes a rich resource of trivia beginning with the origin of the project and how Scott and Monahan ended up working together. The second commentary track has visual effects director Wes Sewell, assistant director Adam Somner and producer Lisa Elizey discussing the technical aspects of the shoot and the challenges they faced covering everything from the employ of digital and on dwelling effects to second unit photography. The last commentary has editor Dody Dorn discussing the two different versions of the film. We also have production notes and information about the shooting of the film provided as text commentary.

The third and fourth discs have most of the supplements. Unfortunately neither has the gracious A&E documentary that was piece of the two disc situation so you may want to occupy on to your other place if you haven’t sold it already. We have “The Path to Redemption” presented in six separate parts with each running anywhere from a half hour to twenty minutes a part covering the making of the film. The first of the three parts include text, images, early screenplay drafts and notes on the shooting of the movie. The second share has cast rehearsals covering everything from the training with the weapons to costume tests. The third of the three parts has storyboards as well as a short documentary featuring scholars discussing the accuracy of the film.

The fourth disc features the last three parts on the film and includes video shot on site, storyboard galleries and photo galleries as well as deleted/extended/alternate scenes with optional commentary by Scott and editor Dorn. There’s also a portion on the visual effects of the film as well as various sound elements to obtain the current sound mix of the film presented in various stages. The last share features trailers, TV spots, the Showest presentation. There’s also footage from various premieres around the world, poster galleries, footage of the press junket shot on video, image and poster galleries as well as a brief featurette similar to the one done for “Gladiator: The Extended Version” that discussed the creation of this special edition.

An exceptional film that was badly butchered by Fox prior to its premiere due to panicked leadership at Fox, the film has finally been presented the method it should have been in the first plot. Fox DVD has done an exceptional job in putting together this package and has made amends for the map it handled the film when it was released theatrical last year. Highly recommended.
